Ibanez Artstar AS80
The AS80 is an Artstar series hollow body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1994. It was made in South Korea. It is believed this model was initially produced by Samick, with production moving to Cort sometime in 1995.
The AS80 features a semi-hollow, double cutaway body design with an arched, laminated maple top with ƒ holes and ivory multi-binding on maple back and sides with a center block mated to a set-in maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with ivory binding and abalone dot position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Super 50 humbucking pickups with chrome covers and individual volume and tone controls, black pickup rings, a Tune-o-matic style Full Tune bridge, a stop tailpiece, a plastic nut, a black pickguard, speed knobs, and Ibanez tuning machines.
For 1996 the bridge was changed to the Full Tune II. Several changes were introduced for 1997: the AS80 adopted a new shape with the more pointed horns of the AS200 and the pickups were changed to Super 58s.
